2020 Goals

Christmas is over and now New Years Day is over..

So, like the rest of the world, I decided to set a few goals. Nothing too crazy, just a few things to develop better habits and to enjoy more fulfillment in life. Speaking about more fulfillment in life, just yesterday I glanced up at the TV and the commercial was advertising some sort of app that will make you loose weight and solve all of your weight loss dilemmas…I just laughed. I thought how funny that everyone is trying to sell their own thing that promises more money, easier weight loss, better time management, etc., etc. and if you purchase these things your life will be instantly better and you’ll wonder how you ever lived without it?!?! Really?!

Maybe it made me stop and think because for the past few days all I’ve heard about is our budget and how we’re going to start using a program/app to better improve our budget. 😉So, I’ve looked into a few different budgeting apps myself, but Joe has probably read every review to every budgeting app out there. He’s also tried a few. At this point I’m not certain which one we are going with, but I’m betting it’s going to be great..and, we’re going to be millionaires in just a few short months! 😉(One can wish.)

As I was saying, I’ve set a few goals for myself this year and one is to blog more consistently. I enjoy it! And, it’s a great way for people “back home” to know what’s going on with us here in SC. Or, at least with me. 😀 I decided to share this goal so I can be held accountable! If you enjoy reading my little spiel even a tiny bit and you don’t hear from me at least once a month give me a yell or a nudge. Please.

My other goals (I prefer goals as to resolutions…do people actually stick with resolutions?) are pretty simple. Nothing crazy! I have several “things” I’d like to work on and I feel like if I make these huge, lofty goals all at once I will likely not stick with any of them. I try to not be an all or nothing person, but sometimes I am. Blah!

If you’re interested in my little goals for 2020, here they are:

  • Eat more nutritious foods and less junk, not illuminating the junk because life is waaaay too short for that! We have a big year ahead…our 25th wedding anniversary is in February so we are going to Jamaica in March; I am SOOOOO excited AND our daughter’s wedding is in June!! All of that to say, Mama needs to look good this year! 😁 Of course, most importantly I want to FEEL good! Healthy-ish eating and exercise are so important to feel my best. The looking good is a huge perk, but I when I go a long time without taking care of me I feel like garbage. Plain and simple.
  • Exercise more. My goal is at least 30 minutes a day 3-5 days a week. For the most part that is what I already do, but I need to step it up a notch. If I’m running short on time during any given day my workout is the first thing to get nixed. Time to stop that!
  • Keep a gratitude journal. I’ve done this off and on and it’s very rewarding! It’s so good to take a breather and to stop and think what am I grateful for? Life can change in such an instant, I think it’s so good to be in the moment as often as we possibly can. This past year has been a huge reminder to me of who/what is really important…family, friends, health! But, it’s also good to be grateful for the little things like ..*sleeping in today (I ❤️Christmas break!!), *my very very favorite candle “Winter” by Bath and Body Works, *my kitty cat snuggles 😄, *sunshine, *coffee, you get the point. We all have SO SO SO may things to be thankful for!!

I realize these goals are super typical. Sorry if I disappointed you. 😉 What are your goals? Anything fun, new, interesting?

Matthew snuggles. He loves Hannah…she tolerates him.

As I begin to wrap this up, I want to say I hope you all had a very Merry Christmas! We sure did!! Our Christmas was definitely not the average Christmas simply because we dined at the Waffle House for dinner that night and exchanged gifts with Caisey in Bradley’s dorm room. Lol The only kiddos we had at home on Christmas morning were Addison and Damian. And, we were just fortunate that Damian could be with us on Christmas morning this year! Not sure how many we’ll get to enjoy with him being in the Marine Corps now, but we’ll take what we can get. The day after Christmas we went to Kentucky for a super short trip to spend a couple of days with family. It was so great to have that time with the fam!! We miss family and friends so much!! Perhaps they should move to SC. 😀

These two drive me crazy most days, but I don’t know what I’d do without them! I love them so!

I look forward to a new year and I hope you do, as well. My prayer is that it will be your best year yet! 😁 Thanks for reading! Love y’all~ Susan

My family and I relocated to Summerville, South Carolina in March 2016 to live near the beach. We're originally from Kentucky, The Bluegrass State! I created this blog to write about our relocation adventures; and there are many! Uprooting our family has not been easy...even IF the beach is near by! ;) Our family consists of 1 daughter, 3 teenage sons (Lord help us!), Hannah-the-hound, and two cats, Matthew and Diesel. Hope you enjoy reading about our shenanigans in The SC! You can reach me at smdotson3@gmail.com. :)
